Meet the Team
Katie Nichol-Owens is the Director of the Golden Girls and Sapphires Dance Teams. Mrs. Nichol-Owens is a graduate of Azle High School, where she was a member of the Emerald Dazzler Drill Team. After graduating, she served as the Rehearsal Director of Mosaic Dance Project, a dance company affiliated with Tarrant County College that specializes in dance performance and community outreach. With Mosaic Dance Project, she had the opportunity to attend master classes and perform at Pulse Dance Convention in Dallas, Broadway Dance Center in NYC, and American College Dance Festival in Huntsville, Laredo, and Natchitoches.
Upon graduating TCC with her Associate of Arts and Dance Specialization, she moved to Austin to attend Texas State University. During her time at TSU, she was a member of STEEL Dance Company. She graduated from Texas State University with Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. Mrs. Nichol-Owens had the amazing opportunity of studying dance abroad in Paris, France. In Paris, she attended master classes at Studio Harmonic, performed at the Louvre and Eiffel Tower, and attended a Balanchine Ballet at L’Opéra Bastille.
Mrs. Nichol-Owens is in her 7th year of teaching and directing. She is excited to be in her second year at Tivy High School. When she isn’t dancing you can find her spending time with her husband, Evan, who is also a teacher and coach at Tivy HS. They have two dogs, Tucker and Lola.
