Tivy High School AFJROTC

The Tivy High School Air Force Junior ROTC was established in 2006. JROTC is one of the best "Leadership Development Programs" available to high school students in America today. It is built on the Air Force Core Values of: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.

Lieutenant Colonel Apostolides is a 24-year active duty veteran of the United States Air Force. He is a Master Navigator with over 3,500 flying hours in the C-141B Starlifter, the C-5A/B Galaxy, T-43A Bobcat, and T-1A Jayhawk aircraft. He flew as an Evaluator and Instructor Navigator in the C-141B, C-5A/B and T-43A. He was an Instructor Combat Systems Officer and Electronic Warfare Instructor in the T-1A and T-25 EWO sim. Lt Col Apostolides served at the HQ Air Force Personnel Center, 21st Air Force and III Corps Staff at Fort Hood. Prior to coming to Tivy High School in July 2022, Lt Col Apostolides was the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor with Junior ROTC at Bethel High School, Spanaway, WA. Lt Col Apostolides is passionate about youth development, character development, and leadership education for our nation's youth. He is intentional and deliberate about transferring timeless principles from one generation of leaders to the next. Lt Col Apostolides resides in Kerrville, TX with his bride Alycia of more than 32 years. They have 3 daughters:  Audra, Sophia and Adahlyn. 

 JFROTC is under the leadership of Master Sgt. (ret) Melissa Bennett. 

Melissa Bennett

Master Sergeant Bennett is a 21-year active-duty veteran of the United States Air Force. She was a Services Craftsman with experience in physical fitness, hotel management, mortuary affairs, recruiting, culinary operations, and deployment management. She has been assigned to seven of the nine major commands across the world with her son Marcus along her side. After retiring from her last base in Great Falls, Montana, she was the first to be selected through the Skillbridge (Internship) program here in the Kerrville Independent School District, later being hired as a full-time substitute and now a permanent AFJROTC instructor here at Tivy High School. MSgt Bennett lived in numerous states and currently resides in Fredericksburg, TX.
