Prevention of COVID-19

  • There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid exposure to the virus.
  • Some everyday preventative actions to take are:
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
    • Stay home when you have a fever
    • Cover your cough or sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water is not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
