Mr. Lafler is a graduate of Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Business Administration. He previously taught at Hal Peterson Middle School in KISD and Forbes Middle School in Georgetown ISD. He is a member of Texas Music Educators Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America, and the Barbershop Harmony Society. Mr. Lafler has performed in choirs, quartets, and as a soloist throughout Europe, South Africa and the United States. He maintains an active performance schedule as a tenor in San Antonio's professional choral ensemble, San Antonio Chamber Choir. Mr. Lafler also serves as the Chancel Choir Director at First Presbyterian Church of Kerrville and maintains a small voice studio.

Ms. Baker is thrilled to be joining the KISD Fine Arts Department as the Hal Peterson and BT Wilson Choir Director! In addition to working at KISD, Ms. Baker also serves as the Chancel Choir Director at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Her teaching experience includes, adjunct music instructor at City Colleges of Chicago,  K-5 general music teacher, preschool music teacher, children's choir director, and private instructor of voice. Ms. Baker's performing experience includes Fredericksburg Theater Company, Symphony of the Hills, Des Moines Metro Opera, Utah Symphony | Utah Opera, many recitals, and operatic roles with LSU Opera and Simpson College Opera. Ms. Baker holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Louisiana State University, earned a Music Education Teaching Certificate at Louisiana State University, and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Simpson College.

Williams 15-16

Amy Williams

Amy Williams began piano lessons at age 7 with the encouragement of her grandmother, who lived next door on the family farm in western Nebraska. She became organist for her church at age 14, after singing in the children’s choir.  Majoring in organ, piano, and music education, Ms. Williams earned her bachelor’s degree at Bethany College in Kansas, where she was an alto in the Bethany College Choir and also sang in the 300 voice chorus performing Handel’s Messiah and Bach’s St. Matthew Passion each Holy Week.   She studied music therapy at the University of Kansas and earned her master’s degree at Western Illinois University.  She became a registered Suzuki piano teacher by participation in master classes in four states and has taught in her piano studio for 30 years, while continuing church organist, pianist, and choir positions.  She enjoys helping students produce beautiful tone!
