The Tivy High School Air Force Junior ROTC was established in 2006. JROTC is one of the best "Leadership Development Programs" available to high school students in America today. It is built on the Air Force Core Values of: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.
JROTC is under the leadership of Lt Col (ret) Chris Edwards and Chief Master Sgt. (ret) Fred Brunz.

Distinguished Unit Award with Merit 2015
On 2 May 2016, Headquarters AFJROTC announced Tivy's AFJROTC earned the Distinguished Unit with Merit Award for 2016. The is the highest organizational award an Air Force Junior ROTC unit can receive. Only 69 of 889 AFJROTC units world-wide received this prestigious award. It was earned through the hard work of all the cadets, instructors and with the support of the Tivy and KISD administration and staff. Congratulations for a job well done.

Triennial Headquarters Inspection
The Tivy High School TX-20063rd Air Force Junior ROTC earned an overall unit assessment score of “Exceeds Standards,” the highest rating attainable during a rated unit evaluation on February 3, 2015.
In addition to the group recognition, three cadets were named Top Performers during inspection. Only two percent of cadets in a unit can be named a Top Performer.
The top performers are, left to right: Sandra Vasquez, senior; Juan Palacios, junior; and Demitri Lopez, senior. Colonel (ret) Wolf Gesch - the HQ AFJROTC inspector from Maxwell AFB, AL - presented the awards.
